How We Work
Every infrastructure is different. We scope each project individually based on your specific situation.
Our Philosophy
We believe in aligned incentives. When possible, we prefer pricing models where we share in your success rather than billing hours regardless of outcome.
That said, every project is different. A straightforward lift-and-shift migration is very different from a project that requires application re-architecture, database redesign, or untangling vendor-locked cloud services. We're upfront about this complexity.
We don't publish fixed prices because they'd either be too high for simple projects or too low for complex ones. Instead, we start every engagement with a discovery conversation to understand your situation.
What affects project scope?
Engagement Models
These are frameworks for how we can work together, not fixed packages. We'll figure out what makes sense for your situation.
Discovery & Assessment
We analyze your current infrastructure, identify savings opportunities, and determine what a migration would actually involve. This gives you a realistic picture before committing to anything larger.
Outcome: Clear understanding of potential savings, complexity, and recommended approach.
Migration Project
End-to-end migration execution. Scope and pricing determined after discovery based on actual complexity. We can structure this as fixed-fee, success-based (percentage of savings), or a hybrid.
Outcome: Your workloads running on optimized infrastructure with documented handover.
Ongoing Partnership
For teams that want us to manage infrastructure long-term. Monitoring, maintenance, on-call support, and continuous optimization. Scope depends on infrastructure size and support level needed.
Outcome: Peace of mind - your infrastructure is monitored and maintained by experts.
Pricing Structures We Use
Success-Based (Percentage of Savings)
We share in a percentage of your verified cost savings. You keep the majority, and we only get paid when you actually save money. This aligns our incentives completely - we're motivated to maximize your savings, not extend the project.
Fixed-Fee (Project-Based)
After discovery, we scope the project and provide a fixed price with milestone-based payments. Good for projects with well-defined scope where you want cost predictability.
Hybrid (Fixed + Success)
A smaller fixed component plus a success-based component. Balances risk for both sides - you get a lower upfront commitment, we have some guaranteed compensation for our work.
Retainer (Ongoing Support)
Monthly fee for ongoing managed services. Scope and price depend on infrastructure size, support hours needed, and SLA requirements.
Common Questions
How do you calculate savings for success-based pricing?
We compare your average cloud spend from the 3 months before migration to your total infrastructure costs after migration (including hardware amortization, colocation, bandwidth, etc.). The methodology is transparent and agreed upon upfront.
What if the project scope changes mid-way?
It happens. If we discover complexity we didn't anticipate, we'll discuss it openly and adjust scope/pricing together. We'd rather have an honest conversation than surprise you with overruns.
Do you require long-term contracts?
For migration projects, no - it's a defined scope with a clear end. For ongoing managed services, we typically start with a 3-month commitment to give both sides time to establish the relationship, then move to month-to-month.
What's a typical range for migration projects?
It varies widely. A simple lift-and-shift for a small team might be a few thousand dollars. A complex migration involving database redesign, application changes, and multi-region setup is a much larger engagement. That's why we start with discovery.
Let's Talk About Your Situation
The best way to understand pricing is to have a conversation. Tell us about your infrastructure and goals.
